About Sonia

Sonia Overall is a writer, psychogeographer & freelance creative based in Kent, UK.

Sonia’s published writing includes novels, poetry, short stories, academic articles and features, many of which explore place, the nonhuman, folk­lore and aspects of the weird. Sonia collaborates with performance com­panies, runs writing workshops, appears at festivals and events, and un­dertakes work to commission. She works as an artist in residence for fes­tivals and public spaces, reviews and assesses manuscripts for writers and publishers, and judges writing competitions.

Sonia is an avid psychogeographer, walking artist and founder of Women Who Walk, a network for creatives and academics. She leads playful, performative and interactive walks and carries out creative in­terventions and responses to these. She is also co-founder of Folk Lore Kent, leading seasonal ‘folkwalks’ and other folklore-related activities and events.

Sonia has a background in community arts and Higher Education. She is currently an Honorary Reader in Creative Writing at Canterbury Christ Church University and an External Examiner for Brunel University.
